Why this app
Everything is local on your own device, nothing leaves. Unless you do so yourself
Your vault is an encrypted file on your device. Every piece, every photo, every price.
PIN & passphrase are stored locally, don't forget it because we can't recover it for you.
You can export an encrypted and unencrypted backup, store it where you want. Just in case something happens.
The only thing the app requires internet for is the twice a day bullion price update, for the live market graph and portfolio tracking.
No server holds your stack. No email, no phone number, not even a payment trail to follow.
Two ways to keep a copy, each for a different reason. Both are made by you, on your device, and never leave it unless you choose to move them.
One file, sealed with AES-256-GCM and locked to your PIN. It holds your whole vault, every piece, photo and collection, and restores all of it onto any device. Even sitting in someone else's cloud it stays unreadable to anyone but you.
A clean, readable summary of your stack: totals, weights and every piece. Not encrypted and not restorable, it is for your own records, your insurer, or the safe alongside your stack so your loved ones understand what you built.
how i did it
Vault Hollandia is a passion project created by me, a precious metals stacker who wanted a tool I couldn't find anywhere else. I am not a professional software developer or programmer. So I decided to build it myself using Claude code.
Throughout development, I had the code reviewed and challenged by multiple AI tools to identify potential security issues, improve reliability and different perspectives. AI helped me build something I otherwise couldn't have done so, but every decision, feature, and improvement has been driven by the goal of creating something genuinely useful for stacker/collectors.
This project has been built alongside my normal work, with many evenings and weekends invested into making it better. It is still in beta, and there is always more to improve, but my focus has remained the same: creating a private, secure, and honest way for stackers to track what they own. And I'll continue improving it as the project evolves. I believe transparency matters, which is why I wanted to share how Vault Hollandia was built.
